Course Description

This 5 day course is essential for those who wish to complete their CoC and OOW. During the course you will work on a variety of marine diesel engines from 20hp to 500hp. The course is a mix of classroom learning, hands on practical work, and on board training too, applying your skills to a working motor cruiser.

About the MCA Approved Engine Course AEC 1

The MCA Approved Engine Course (AEC 1) is a 5 day training course with mixed theory and practical elements. The course covers the key sub systems surrounding the marine diesel engine, and the principles of operation from the most basic concepts of how an internal combustion engine works to the finer points of cooling, lubrication, fuelling, air flow, forced induction, the engine electrical system and much more. During your AEC course you will be hands-on, studying and working on the 3 classroom based engines, and on our training vessel with twin 500 hp engines. Each element of your course comprises of some theory, practical demonstrations, hands on tools learning, and then in field training on board the training vessel. This enables you to master each subsystem in a variety of learning styles to suit you. 

Maritime and Coastguard Agency Accredited Course

This course is approved by the UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency. As a subsidiary executive agency of the UK Department for Transport, the UK MCA is responsible for the syllabus and training standards for ships' officers and crew to the STCW requirements.  Allabroad is an MCA accredited course provider.
