The RYA Powerboat level 2 course is a 2 day course delivered in Gibraltar . The course covers
The course is aimed at anyone and no previous experience is required. Upon completion of the course British, Gibraltar residents and any other non European residents can apply for an International Certificate of Competence for vessels up to 10m.
The RYA Powerboat courses are becoming ever more popular due mostly to the huge increase in rib sales. Owning and running a rib is one of the most cost effective ways to get out on the water, running costs are low and being able to park your vessel in the back garden saves a fortune on mooring fees.
The training vessel is a Brand new 2013 Xpro Defender Rigid Hulled Inflatable Boat (RHIB) fitted with a 115 four stroke Suzuki outboard engine and Hydraulic steering. The vessel also has chart plotter, DSC VHF radio, depth and speed gauges. She is fitted for safety with 4 jockey seats and complies with the RYA's latest guidelines for safety. She is equipped with flares and first aid supplies and complies with all the local and international regulations for a commercial vessel.
There are never more than 3 students to one rib so you will get plenty of hands on helm training. We cover launching and recovery of the rib as this is one of the most difficult elements. You will each have a go at launching and recovering single handed!
